Dear Aunt Loretta: I am Theodora's oldest daughter RoseMarie. I want you to know how much I really loved getting to know you when you came to California a few years ago. You reminded me so much of my own Memere Lina, you are such a sweet person. My mom talked about that visit untill the day she died. I chat with Cookie frequently, and she keeps me up to date on how you are doing. I think it's great that you still love to sing, even if no one else does. (that's a joke) So, sweet, tiny wonderful, and loving person that you are! We all love you very much. Love RoseMarie P.S. Some of those hugs you get from Cookie every day are from me.

Hi Memere,

This is such a nice way to share my thoughts about your family. I met your daughter, Arline, over 35 years ago, and little did I know that I not only gained a new friend, I gained a sister, and a new family. Arline has been my best friend and confidant, and over the years we have shared it all, births, marriages, divorces, death, and the many traumas raising children bring to families. Through it all I knew I could count on your special daughter, day or night. Oh yes, there were many midnight and later phone calls. I want to thank you for your raising such a wonderful friend for me.

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Ross is waiting in the wings with his dominoes at the ready for another ribald game.

We love you, Memere.

Dear Aunt Loretta.

Rose Marie sent me this page so that I could read about you. Please know that you are in my prayers and that even thought I did not get to grow up around you or spend a whole lot of time with you, I remember being around you at times. The last time I saw you was in San Diego when you and Arlene came out there for a visit. Even though you ended up spending your time in the hospital there the one thing that has stuck with me the most is the fact that when ever I saw you, you always had a smile on your face. The only one of your kids that I ever really got to know was Henry and that is because he stayed with us when I was a kid. I may not be in touch with my mom's side of the family, mostly due to the fact that I do not know them on a personal level. But I wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and that I do love you and all of my family, I just do not know them. I do remember your house from when my mom brought us back there when dad died, I remember so much the love that was there,(and the dog!) I will check this page often to see how you are doing. God bless you and your family and ours.

Love always

Jill

Hi Memere, Every time I think about you I miss you. Your always in my thoughts and prayers. Every Sunday at mass when I say prayers Macy would ask me what I pray about. I would tell her and you are always a part of my prayers. So now every Sunday when everyone kneels and prays Macy says she kneels and talks to Grand-Memere. I cant count how many prayers you said for her when she was a baby. Thankyou, Look how good they worked. Thankyou for everything you added to my life. I Love You. Love always Dianna P.S. I still haven't mastered your mashed potatoes.

Hi Mom,

Easter is almost here and I have been reminiscing a lot today. I've been thinking about you making Easter baskets for all the grandkids every year. One year you confided to us that as a child, you never had an Easter basket. This was unbelievable, and so we concocted a plan. That year, we contacted everyone close to you and asked that they think of some small memento to help fill an Easter basket for you. The following Easter arrived, and we had enough contributions to fill a large wicker laundry basket. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room when we presented you with your very first Easter basket. You received hand made cards, hand made crafts, poetry, and both funny and sentimental gifts. I think that this was the most special Easter I spent with you.

Another special Easter was the one before you went into the nursing home. I picked you up that weekend and brought you to Montreal. You couldn't wait to go to the new casino there. We drove over, parked the car and had to take a shuttle to the Casino. Once there, we had to wait in line as they only let a limited number of people in at one time. We just happenned to be there in the middle of a freezing sleet storm. After waiting in line for about an hour, you decided that your nose was too cold and we should go back to the hotel. We returned the next day, with no lines and you very quickly made your donation to the casino's coffers. I stll have my souvenier playing cards from that trip. I remember taking them out to play with you and finding the face cards with the letters R, D, V (Roi, Dame et Valet) and the Joker marked Fou. Of course, you had to explain this to me. We ended the weekend by attending Easter mass at Notre Dame Cathedral. This too was a very special Easter.

I miss our special days Mom. I wish we could have more. May God bless you always. I love you. Arline

Hi Memere!

I missed you this week when Jacqui and my mother went to see you. I was thinking about you, though. I know that Jacqui enjoyed her visit because she has mentioned it a few times. Ryan is now wishing he went; next time he says. I hope they gave you a kiss from me!

Mémère,

August 3rd marked the one-year anniversary of your death, so I thought a lot about you. It was a strange day for me because I experienced a multitude of feelings: gladness knowing that you are happy and at peace; sorrow recognizing that I cannot physically be with you; and security knowing that you are with me. Additionally, August 3rd represented something else – fourteen years ago, I had started dating my husband. I guess that date symbolizes a new beginning for both of us.

This past weekend, I thought a lot about you also. One year ago, your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered together to plant a tree and celebrate your life. This past weekend, some of us reunited again. I know you were with us, as you were a year ago; I felt your presence and I observed your legacy. “You’ll always be with us, of this I know; your love is far too strong for you to go.”

Love you always, Robin

P.S. You still know that your Robin would never forget you, right?
