Welcome to my
Sports Page. I Love sports --- all sports. I am good at sports and besides
that, I am a "Good Sport." Do you like sports? Get the picture,
Sport? |
O.K. My name
is , and I am six years old. I live
in Massachusetts and have just started first grade. I have taken T-Ball for one
season and gone to soccer camp for three summers. I love soccer! In November,
I start basketball practice.
I live with
my parents and two sisters (yuck). Their names are Jacqui and Kerry. My Dad and his family
like to go outside with me and play sports. Mommy and my sisters like to do "girl
stuff." They're not very good at sports and they always get in my way.
One of the things I like to
do is save money for sick and poor people. I have a special bank (a football helmet)
to save in; and when it is full, Mommy, Daddy, and I will decide who to give it to.
I wish everybody would do this, then the whole world would be better and everybody would
be happy.
One day, while playing
baseball with my Dad, I hit the ball so hard that it broke! I wish that I could
always hit the ball that way.
I have a dog and a cat.
Ribbons is the dog and Little Foot is my cat. Little Foot is very special and very
smart. On Sept. 1st., we brought him to the Vet's for a check-up. Before we
could get him inside, he ran away and escaped. We looked all over and put ads in the
paper. We took walks in the woods looking for him. We thought we would never
see him again and we were all very, very sad. On Oct. 14th., we opened the door to
go outside and Little Foot ran in. Were we surprised!! He was missing for six
weeks. I think our love and prayers brought him back home to us.
My biggest fan is Memere.
That is French for grandmother. I like to speak French. I can say red apple
and orange (pomme rouge and orange) and I can count to ten (un, deux, trois, quartre,
cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, et dix). Memere says that I pronounce all of the words the
right way. This is what Memere looks like. She always roots for me.
My Memere makes the best homemade applesauce, but I don't really
like her frog eye pudding.
Now, I will
tell you about all of the things I like:
*Football |
*The color green |
*Baseball |
*Wrestling with my Dad |
*Hockey |
*Marble Raceway |
*Soccer |
*Winning |
*Basketball |
*My new bedroom |
Now, these are
the things I don't like:
*Girls |
*Potatoes |
*Kerry, sometimes |
*Being punished |
*Jacqui, most times |
*Losing |
*Kissing
my Mom when I get dropped off at school |
Want to play a game?
O.K. This is what you have to do. Here is a picture of a football helmet.
Can you name all the teams on it? The answer will be at the bottom of this page.
Good luck!
Now here is
another game. These are the logos of my favorite New England teams. Can you tell me
the name of the team and what sport they play? There are a lot of hints here.
These answers
will be at the bottom of the page.
Sometimes my family plays
this game with me. It is called "Winning Team." This is what they tell me.
"Ryan,
you are on the winning team when you clean your room, but you are on the losing team when
you pick on your sisters."
"Ryan, you are on the winning team when you are polite, but you are on the losing
team when you talk fresh."
"Ryan, you are on the winning team when you count to ten, but you are on the losing
team when you lose your temper."
"Ryan, you are on the winning team when you ignore Patrick, but you are on the losing
team when you fight on the school bus."
"Ryan, you are on the winning team when you try your best, but you are on the losing
team when you don't listen to us."
I am going to try real hard
to be on the winning team all of the time. I don't want to be a loser.
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Adolph.
Adolph, who?
A dolph ball
hit me in de mouf, dats why I dalk dike dis!
A message from
Memere:
Hi Champ,
I hope that you like
this page. It was made especially for you! Mommy and I decided that we should
pick sports for this page because that is all you talk about.
You were my very first
grandchild Ryan, and you brought so much happiness to my life. When you were born,
you were ten pounds and sooo big!! You were also very strong. When you were
less than one hour old, you lifted up your head and looked from side to side. I
think that right then I knew you would make a great football player. Whether or not
you become a football, hockey, or basketball player, I want you always to remember that,
no matter what, you will always be a champion in my book. I see you work so hard to
be the best you can be, and I am so proud of you! You try so hard to accomplish so
much.
There are a few things
you shouldn't forget, though. You should always remember to give everyone a turn,
even if they are not as good as you are. That is called being a team player.
You should always congratulate the winners, even when you are upset that you lost.
That is called being a "good sport." You should always do as your coach
directs. That is called teamwork. And you should always play the game to the
best of your ability and for the sheer joy of it. That is called team spirit.
If you live your life, following these guidelines, you will most surely become "most
valuable player". I love you, Ryan.

COVERING ALL THE BASES
A little boy was overheard talking to
himself as he strode through his backyard, baseball cap in place and toting ball and bat.
"Im the greatest baseball player in the world." he said proudly. Then he
tossed the ball in the air, swung and missed. Undaunted, he picked up the ball, threw it
into the air and said to himself, "Im the greatest baseball player ever!"
He swung at the ball again, and again he missed. He paused a moment to examine the bat and
ball carefully. Then once again he threw the ball into the air and said, "Im
the greatest baseball player who ever lived." He swung the bat hard and again missed
the ball. "Wow!" he exclaimed. "What a pitcher!"
